Maharashtra: I-T dept seizes Rs 58 Cr cash, 32 kg gold, cash count took 13 hours

The proceedings comprised up to 260 policemen and personnel

Mumbai, Aug 11: The Income Tax department conducted searches on the locations of a steel, cloth merchant and a real estate developer in Maharashtra from August 1 to August 8. The authorities have confiscated illegal goods worth Rs 390 crore, including 32 kilogrammes of gold and Rs 58 crore in unaccounted cash.

In the first week of August, the Nasik Wing of the Income Tax department searched an industrialist’s offices and homes in the cities of Jalna and Aurangabad.

The cash that was confiscated was counted by the department in 13 hours. The proceedings comprised up to 260 policemen and personnel from all throughout the state. Five teams made up of each of these officers were formed.
