New Delhi: Model-actor Malaika Arora has opened up about being labelled “too bold” throughout her life and career, saying she feels liberated now that she no longer explains herself to others. Speaking to The Hindustan Times, the 48-year-old star said the moment she stopped justifying her choices was the moment she found freedom.
Owning Her Choices
Arora, who shares a 22-year-old son, Arhaan, with ex-husband Arbaaz Khan, revealed that people have judged everything from her work to her wardrobe and relationships. “I’ve been called too bold, too outspoken, too everything. And honestly? I wear it like a crown now. If I’m ‘too much’ for someone, they’re probably not enough for me,” she said. She added that she has never followed a set formula in fashion, fitness or life, trusting her instincts instead.
Confidence Over Conformity
The actor admitted that self-doubt sometimes creeps in, but over the years she has learned to meet those moments with kindness rather than criticism. “Real confidence comes when you stop performing for the world and start living for yourself,” she noted, emphasising that grace despite uncertainty is key. Arora, whose last public relationship was with actor Arjun Kapoor, said she now views the label of “bold” as a strength rather than a slur.
