New Delhi, Aug 20: The CWC (Congress Working Committee), the party’s top decision-making body, was reformed on Sunday by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge with some G23 figures, like Shashi Tharoor and Anand Sharma, who have previously been critical of the party’s leadership, among the 84 members.
The crucial Congress Working Committee was established 10 months after Kharge assumed leadership after defeating Tharoor, and it consists of 15 women, leaders from weaker sections and several faces under the age of 50.
The new CWC has 13 special invitees, including the presidents of the Youth Congress, National Students’ Union of India, Mahila Congress, and the Seva Dal as ex-officio members, in addition to 32 permanent invitees, including some in-charges of state.
