Ranchi, June 23: During the first four hours of the Mandar by-poll, which began at 7 am today and was well secured, voters showed up with tremendous enthusiasm.
In the constituency, 29.13 percent of voters cast ballots up until 11 a.m., and there was a long line of notices.
After attending Kokoayo in Raghunathpur for worship, BJP candidate Gangotri Kujur and Independent candidate Deo Kumar Dhan both exercised their voting rights at booths in the main race: booth No. 56 in Jaipur and Nawatoli Panchayat. Shilpi Neha Turkey, a voter in the Hatia assembly constituency, was unable to cast a ballot today.
There have been no reports of violence from any area of the assembly seat, which is likely to have 3.48 lakh voters cast ballots at 429 polling places, including 1.75 lakh Sarna, 74000 Hindu, 70,000 Muslims, and 30,000 Christians. 14 candidates are running for the seat including Tirkey, Kujur, and Dhan.
The results will be announced on June 26.
When asked about her opinion, Shilpi Tirkey said, “We completed our work. Today is election day. People will make the decision.”
Meanwhile, Dhan thanked the electorate for giving him their full support. According to Kujur, she “expects more than 60% points for her victory.”
