Mumbai, July 26: A Mumbai court on Tuesday ordered Manvinder Singh, a sideshow performer who was detained for allegedly emailing actress Katrina Kaif death threats, to remain in police custody till July 28.
The 25-year-old actor Singh is reportedly a big fan of Katrina Kaif and a struggling actor. He used to share manipulated videos and photos of him and the actress on Instagram because he wanted to marry her. He had apparently been harassing and stalking her on social media for the past few months.
Singh then started threatening Kaif and her husband Vicky Kaushal with death. Vicky Kaushal reported Singh to the police on Monday, alleging that Singh had threatened him and his wife on Instagram.
According to the official, Santacruz police filed an FIR under Indian Penal Code Sections 506-II (criminal intimidation) and 354-D (stalking) against the unidentified person in response to the complaint. The official added that no arrests have been made as of yet.
Singh was brought before a court in Bandra earlier today after being detained by the police in Malad the same day.
