Ranchi: Hundreds of Blinkit delivery workers took to the streets in Ranchi on Wednesday, staging massive protests against the company following the death of delivery partner Neeraj Kumar in a road accident. The protestors forced the closure of all Blinkit warehouses and offices in the city, bringing the app’s services to a complete standstill.
According to the demonstrators—numbering around 400—Neeraj came from an extremely poor family, and his sudden death has devastated his loved ones. They allege that Blinkit has neither offered any assistance nor expressed any condolences to Neeraj’s family following the tragedy.
Workers Demand Compensation, Threaten Indefinite Strike
Angry workers are demanding fair compensation for Neeraj’s family, warning that if the company fails to respond appropriately, all delivery partners will go on an indefinite strike.
The protestors also attempted to file an FIR at the Bariatu police station regarding the incident, but the police reportedly refused to register the complaint, further fueling the anger of the workers.
Protesters stated, “What happened to Neeraj today could happen to any of us tomorrow. Justice for his family is not just a request—it’s a rightful demand.”
