Lucknow, Jan 11: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati will not contest the upcoming Assembly election in the state.
“Former Chief Minister Mayawati and I will not contest the Assembly elections,” said BSP MP Satish Chandra Mishra.
“If Samajwadi Party does not have 400 candidates, how will they win 400 seats? Neither SP nor BJP will come to power, BSP is going to form the govt in Uttar Pradesh,” he added.

Notably, Mayawati has never contested an Assembly election in the state in the past. The dates of Assembly elections have been announced in five states by the Election Commission of India.
The elections will be held in seven phases in Uttar Pradesh. The first round of voting will take place on February 10. Voting will then take place on February 14, 20, 23, 27, March 3, and March 7.
Simultaneously, voting will be held in a single phase on February 14 in Uttarakhand, Punjab and Goa. Elections will be held in Manipur in two phases on February 27 and March 3.
