Dhanbad, Nov 24: MBBS students of the 2022-23 academic session who will take admission on state quota seats in the second round of counselling scheduled from November 26 to 29 are all set to miss the classes for at least more than 15 days.
Notably, classes in medical colleges across the country started on November 15 as per the 2022-23 academic calendar of the National Medical Commission (NMC) but the admission process on All India as well as the state quota is yet to be completed.
So, the students who would get admitted in the second round or mop-up round would have to miss the classes
As per Supreme Court (SC) directive, admission on state quota could be taken only after the institution’s completion of central quota enrolment.
Since the second round of counselling of the central quota was completed, Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) has announced November 26 to 29 for admission to the second round.
The Director of the medical education wing of the state health department Dr SK Singh admitted that the students who will switch over to the institution in the second round would have to compensate for the classes at their own level.
The official sources are due to a petition in the Madras High Court admission process in the 2022-23 session in central and state seats got delayed.
In the academic calendar of NMC announced on October 3, 2022, the first round in 2022-23 sessions on the All India quota would be completed from October 11 to October 20, 2022, and on the state quota from October 17 to October 28.
But due to a case in court, the first round of admission on the All India quota was completed on October 28. Similarly. on state quota admission process was completed from October 29 to November 4.
As per NMC’s schedule, the second round admission of the All India quota should have been completed on November 2 to November 10 while on the state quota it should have been completed from November 7 to November 18.
However, due to the delay in the second round of admission, the All India quota was completed on November 22. Due to this, JCECEB too has rescheduled the process and announced the date for the second round from November 26 to 29.
