Hazaribag, Nov 9: A mysterious fever claimed the lives of three girls in the 3-4 years age group in the Koderma district. The deaths sparked panic in the area, making the administration rush a medical team to find out the exact reason behind these deaths. Deaths have taken place in Jhargaon village of Satgawan block in the Koderma district.
Villagers said the three girls namely Varsha Kumari (4), Nandini Kumari (3) and Priti Kumari (3) were suffering from light fever. After vomiting, two of them died on Nov 4 and Priti died yesterday.
As the news became viral, the district administration sent a medical team led by Satgawan medical officer Dr Satyanarayan Bhagat to find the facts. Sources said Block Development Officer Vednath Oraon is keeping eye on the situation and passed instructions to the team to ensure proper treatment to infected children if any in the village.
Dr Bhagat said they are now scanning every house in the village to find children suffering from this disease. “Villagers had briefed us about this disease and its symptoms and based on this, I can say it’s not dengue. We are trying to know whether it is Chamki fever or any other disease,” he said.
According to the medical officer, the villagers didn’t contact them after their children started suffering from fever. They contacted local doctors and when their condition didn’t improve, they took them to Gobindpur in the Nawada district of Bihar. “I request the villagers to contact us immediately in such cases,” he appealed.
