Daltonganj, Dec19: A long pending dispute over a Mahua tree and some pieces of land enraged a 19- year old migrant worker Surinder Kumar to axe his own relative Umesh Sao to death at village Barsouti under the Dhurki police station in Garhwa district.

“The Dhurki police have cracked the case. The prime killer has been arrested and the weapon used in the crime has been recovered ,” said Sub divisional police officer Pramod Kr Keshri.

Officer in charge of the Dhurki police station Sadanand Kumar said Surinder has been remanded in judicial custody on Saturday December 18.

The families of the two, Surinder and Umesh, have  had a long tiff over a Mahua tree. Both the families used to claim their right on the tree. These two families are relatives of each other.

There was also dispute between the two families over some pieces of land. The families of Surinder and Umesh never agreed to any settlement of the land dispute.

Surinder has told police that Umesh used to harass and torture his mother over the same disputed land since the days he was a child.

Police informed that there occurred one more immediate provocation between the two. Umesh was accusing Surinder of posting his daughter’s photo on facebook.

On the night of December 16, Surinder caught Umesh who was cycling home at night and with the tangi Surinder hit Umesh on head who died instantly.

Sources said the Dhurki police zeroed in on Surinder and the case unfolded fast. Surinder confessed to his crime. All done in just two days time beginning with murder of Umesh on December 16 and Surinder going to the judicial remand on December 18.
