Ranchi, March 2: Poraiyahat MLA Pradeep Yadav in the assembly today demanded stay on the demolition notice issued by Ranchi Municipal Corporation to the owners of 2200 houses in Jharkhand capital saying those houses were constructed before the introduction of building bylaws in 2016 and thus it will be an injustice if these houses are demolished for not having construction in accordance with building bylaws.

Hatia MLA Naveen Jaiswal supported Yadav on the issue saying it is an extortion attempt by the civic body as the notices have been issued even to those who had tiled roof houses constructed before the establishment of Ranchi Municipal Corporation.

Minister Satyanand Bhokta, replying on behalf of the department minister, said that the matter will be discussed with the concerned department secretary and a final decision will be taken in the matter.

Though the Mandar legislator Bandhu Tirkey intervened during the discussion on the topic saying the action of the government is justified as the construction has been done in violation of the CNT Act. On which Yadav said his demand is limited to those who have been served notices for violation of building by-laws.
