Tel Aviv: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently on a two-day visit to Israel, said terrorism has no place in the world as he met Israeli leaders and paid tribute at the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial alongside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Meeting with Israeli President Herzog
PM Modi met Israeli President Isaac Herzog, who described the visit as historic. During the meeting, Modi invited the Israeli President to visit India, reaffirming strong bilateral ties.
Tribute at Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial
Prime Minister Modi, along with Benjamin Netanyahu, visited Yad Vashem and paid homage to Holocaust victims. The memorial preserves personal belongings and records of millions who lost their lives during the Holocaust, symbolizing one of history’s darkest chapters.
Key Agreements on Defence and Emerging Technologies
India and Israel held high-level talks covering defence cooperation, artificial intelligence, cyber security, and other strategic sectors. Both nations agreed to establish a Critical and Emerging Technologies Partnership, focusing on AI, quantum technologies, and critical minerals.
PM Modi also welcomed the agreement enabling the use of India’s UPI digital payment system in Israel. He stated that defence cooperation remains a strong pillar of India-Israel relations and indicated that the India-Israel Free Trade Agreement would soon be finalized.
Strong Stand Against Terrorism
Addressing the issue of global security, PM Modi emphasized that both India and Israel firmly believe terrorism has no place in the world and cannot be accepted in any form. He reiterated India’s position that “humanity must never become a victim of conflict” and expressed support for peace efforts related to Gaza.
Earlier, PM Modi addressed Israel’s Parliament, the Knesset, highlighting the deepening strategic partnership between the two countries.
