There were also interruptions on the first day of the monsoon session. The Lok Sabha’s morning session was postponed until 2 p.m. so that members could cast their ballots in the presidential election, according to speaker Om Birla. After the newly elected members took the oath and the references from obituaries were read, the house was adjourned.

When chairperson M. Venkaiah Naidu refused to budge on the opposition’s demand for a discussion on price increases, the Rajya Sabha was postponed for the day. Congress and Aam Aadmi Party members gathered around the home’s well and chanted protest signs.
