Jamshedpur, Aug 30: Monsoon activity is expected to remain weak over Jharkhand for the next five days, declared weathermen at Ranchi Met Centre today.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level continues to run along the foothills of the Himalayas.
Weathermen said dry weather condition is expected to prevail over the state for the next few days. The possibility of light rain was expected in north-western and south-western Jharkhand in the next 48 hours.
Thundershowers and lightning are also expected at a few isolated places this weekend.
Satellite pictures suggested that a cyclonic circulation lies over the east-central Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood between 4.5 and 7.6 km above mean sea level.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain was experienced at isolated places over the state during the past 24 hours.
Monsoon activity was weak over the state for the past 48 hours. Statistics revealed that Jharkhand has so far received 502 mm of rain against a normal of 784 mm, resulting in a deficit of 36 per cent.
