New Delhi, July 11: The Supreme Court refused on Monday to entertain Punjab BJP leader Jagjit Singh’s plea seeking to transfer the probe in the Sidhu Moose Wala murder case to the CBI.
Justices Ajay Rastogi and Abhay S. Oka’s bench further stated that they disapprove of the practise of politicising such situations and that it should not be done. The Court did add, however, that the court must operate transparently for all parties.
The hearing on another petition by accused Lawrence Bishnoi’s father contesting the transit remand to Punjab police was postponed to July 18 and the Punjab state was requested to file a response to the petition.
Senior attorney AM Singhvi represented Punjab, while senior attorney Vikram Chaudhri represented the mobster Lawrence Bishnoi’s father.
On June 14, the Delhi Patiala House Court approved both the Punjab Police’s request for transit and the arrest of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in connection with the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala. The court further ordered Punjab Police to make sure that Lawrence Bishnoi’s medical checkup followed all applicable laws and regulations before he left Delhi and before he appeared before the relevant CJM, Mansa, Punjab court.
According to the petition filed by Punjab Police in the city court that Lawrence Bishnoi is a key conspirator of singer Sidhu Moose Wala.
