Umaria, Sep 25: A car struck a tree on National Highway 43 (NH 43) in the early hours of Monday in Madhya Pradesh’s Umaria district, killing five people, a police official stated.
The accident happened on NH 43 within the jurisdiction of Birsinghpur Pali police station around 12:30 am on Monday. Three of the five passengers in the car passed away immediately, and two more perished while receiving medical attention.
The deceased have been identified as Shahdol district residents Pushpendra Tripathi, Amit Shukla, Avinash Dubey, Prakash Jagat, and Dinesh.
“Five persons in a car from Shahdol district came to have food at a Dabha in the district last night. While returning they met with an accident on NH 43 at around 12:30 am on Monday in which three persons died on the spot while two died during treatment,” Birsinghpur Pali police station in-charge Madan Lal Maravi said.
The police arrived on the scene immediately after learning of the occurrence and immediately began an investigation. The post-mortem was performed on the bodies before they were sent to the family, Maravi added.
