New Delhi, July 22: The Supreme Court dismissed a plea on Friday that questioned the central government’s ability to continue providing protection for industrialist Mukesh Ambani and his family in Mumbai.

The appeal of the central government contesting the Tripura High Court’s decision on a Public Interest Litigation, or PIL, was approved by Chief Justice NV Ramana, Justices Krishna Murari, and Hima Kohli.

The Tripura High Court’s rulings on the case contesting the security provided to the industrialist and his family in Mumbai were placed on hold by court in late last month.

Bikash Saha, the petitioner from Tripura, has nothing to do with the protection for visitors offered in Mumbai, according to Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who is arguing on behalf of the centre.

The central government was ordered by the Tripura High Court to place the original file kept by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) regarding the threat perception and assessment report of Ambani, his wife, and their children based on which security has been granted to them on May 31 and June 21, respectively.
