New Delhi, June 20: Nawab Malik and Anil Deshmukh, both MLAs from Maharashtra, have moved to Supreme Court for permission to vote in the Maharashtra Legislative Council election.
Both political leaders are now incarcerated and have appealed the Bombay High Court’s decision on Friday denying them permission to vote. They have a statutory right to vote as an elected representative, according to the plea.
Notably, both Nawab Malik and Anil Deshmukh are in judicial custody since their arrest by the Enforcement Directorate. Earlier, the Bombay high court denied quick relief to both of them for a day of bail to vote in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
