Naxalite Rakesh Oraon carrying one lakh reward arrested in Gumla

Large quantity of arms and explosives recovered

The police have once again got a big success against the Naxalites in the Gumla district. On the instructions of SP Dr. Ehtesham Waqarib, the Naxalite Rakesh Oraon alias Manki Oraon, carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh, has been arrested from Marwa forest of Kurumgad police station area. More than half a dozen cases are registered against the arrested Naxalite Rakesh in Kurumgarh, Chainpur and Gumla police station areas of the district. Police also recovered a large quantity of explosive materials including a country-made pistol.

Gumla SP Dr Ehtesham Waqarib said on Monday that after the killing of the infamous Naxalite Budheshwar, the members of his squad are still hiding here and there to escape from the police and we are continuously trying to get them. In this sequence, the police got information that Naxalite Rakesh is hiding in the forest. At the same time, he is keeping an eye on our activities. Following this information, we formed a raiding team and started a search operation. Although Rakesh started running as soon as we reached the Barpath hill, but we caught him successfully. The police had also recovered a country-made pistol and bullet.

The arrested Naxalite is a resident of Kuli village above Anjan Panchayat. He was associated with the Naxalite organization for the last 3 years. The SP said that during interrogation, the police have recovered a large quantity of explosives from the forest located in the north-west direction of the Marwa forest on the behest of the arrested Naxalite Rakesh. This explosive was kept hidden under the ground in the forest. The Naxalites were storing these explosives with the aim of causing damage to them during the operation being conducted by the police in the area. The SP said that one live bullet, 50 pieces non-electrical detonators, five pieces wire-connected electric detonators, 20 meters safety fuse, 5 pieces of Neogel, five pieces of star pole, 5 pieces of star pipe, the SP said. One piece of suspended wire detonator has been recovered.
