Mumbai, April 18: Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik’s judicial custody has been extended till April 22, in a money laundering case on Monday.

NCP minister and Maharashtra’s minority affairs minister Nawab Malik, who is being detained by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), has been admitted to hospital with stomach trouble. According to party sources, Malik was carried to JJ hospital on Friday morning by ED authorities for a normal medical check-up after complaining of stomach trouble.

The ED detained Malik on Wednesday on accusations of money laundering in the case against underworld don and fugitive Dawood Ibrahim and his associates.

Notably, the ED detained Nawab Malik, the head of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Maharashtra government’s Minority Affairs Minister, on February 23 in a money laundering case. The ED has charged the NCP leader with being a part of a criminal conspiracy to usurp a property in Mumbai’s Kurla district that is currently valued at Rs 300 crore and rightly belongs to Munira Plumber.

The Supreme Court will hear Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik’s petition for immediate release from prison in the money laundering case, which has been granted an urgent hearing.
