In the state administration led by Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray, Malik held the ministries of skills development and minority issues. He is also the guardian minister for the districts of Parbhani and Gondia.
According to senior party insiders, the Sharad Pawar-led NCP has decided to allocate Malik’s portfolios to other ministers in the party.
The NCP, on the other hand, has opted not to urge Malik to quit as the opposition BJP has asked.
