Jamshedpur, Sept 8: A new ISWP Sports Ground was inaugurated by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President (Corporate Services), Tata Steel and Neeraj Kant, managing director of ISWP in the presence of officials from Tata Steel, TSUISL (Tata Steel Utilities & Infrastructure Services Ltd – formerly JUSCO) here on Wednesday.
The new sports ground has international facilities for archery as well as basketball.
Further mini football ground and cricket pitch will be provided in the ground.
Indian Steel and Wire Products (ISWP), a subsidiary of Tata Steel has done excellent work at grassroot levels and trained girl archers like Kamolika Bari, Laxmi Hembram and Ms Saniya Sharma who have gone to win international championships.
Tata Steel is supporting ISWP in this endeavour through providing infrastructure, equipment etc.
Chanakya Chaudhary complimented the efforts of ISWP for grassroot work in the field of archery.
He also assured full support of Tata Steel for this effort of ISWP. The programme was graced by the officials of all the above three companies and union representatives from ISWP.
Neeraj Kant, managing director of ISWP while thanking Tata Steel for its support mentioned that some major work has been done by ISWP in the eastern part of Jamshedpur.
He mentioned the extensive sewage system and boundary walls constructed in the ISWP township. The three ponds in the ISWP area have been de-watered, cleaned and refilled with water after almost 80 years.
The Naval Tata Hockey Academy established within the premises of ISWP is a matter of pride.
This hockey academy is of international standards. Neeraj Kant also spoke about the business expansion of ISWP particularly the Graphene project which was recently inaugurated by Ratan Tata and group chairman N Chandrasekaran.
