NIA arrests Shaka alias Tivari Bankira for attack on ex-MLA in West Singhbhum

Ranchi, Dec 1: The NIA yesterday arrested one accused Shaka alias Tivari Bankira for the attack on former MLA Gurucharan Nayak and his three bodyguards by a group of CPI (Maoist) under PS Goilkera in West Singhbhum.

During the incident, one bodyguard was seriously injured, and two bodyguards, Shankar Nayak and Thakur Hembram succumbed to their injuries while fighting with the Maoists.  Their personal weapons were also snatched by the Maoists.

The case was initially registered as FIR No. 01/2022, dated 05.01.2022 at PS- Goilkera, Dist –West Singhbhum, Jharkhand and re-registered by NIA on 30.06.2022.

Investigations revealed that accused Shaka was an armed cadre of the CPI (Maoist) and he conspired with other co-accused and handed over Rs. 8000/- to accused Pradhan Korah S/o Late Rando Korah to buy logistics items for the Maoists. He collected these items from the house of accused Pradhan Korah and handed them over to the CPI (Maoist) SAC member Sushant alias Anmol alias Lalchand Hembram at Lowabeda forest. He also conducted a recce of the place of the incident and kept watch on the movement of Police/ security personnel until the Naxal attack was executed.

Further investigations in the case are in progress, said a press release issued by the NIA.
