NIA detains Chota Shakeel’s associate Salim Fruit in Mumbai after raids

Mumbai, May 9: An official said the National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained gangster Chhota Shakeel’s aide Salim Qureshi aka Salim Fruit in Mumbai on Monday morning after conducting raids at over 20 locations in Mumbai and the neighbouring Thane district against associates of fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

NIA detains Salim Fruit following a raid at his residence in Mumbai. He is an associate of Dawood Ibrahim. Some important documents also seized.

Qureshi, the husband of Shakeel’s sister-in-law, was apprehended by the NIA at his home in the Bhendi Bazar district of south Mumbai, he added.

Notably, the central agency carried out operations on Dawood Ibrahim’s associates in Mumbai’s Nagpada district, Bhendi Bazar, Santacruz, Mahim, Goregaon areas, Mumbra in Thane, and other locations.

Meanwhile, a person namely Kayyum in the Mahim area of Mumbai has also been detained by National Investigation Agency (NIA). NIA raids are underway. Further details are awaited.
