Patna, April 1: Nitish Kumar will serve Bihar for the rest of his tenure as Chief Minister and will not leave, according to two senior Janata Dal (United) leaders, dismissing reports that he is considering a run for the Rajya Sabha.
Upendra Kushwaha, president of the JD(U)’s parliamentary board and Sanjay Kumar Jha, Bihar minister and JD(U) national general secretary, took to Twitter to debunk the rumour that Kumar will be elected to the upper house of Parliament.

Kushwaha stated in a Hindi tweet that Nitish Kumar has the mandate to serve the people of Bihar for the next five days and that he is not leaving. Kushwaha continued, “He is and will stay the Chief Minister.”
“I’m intrigued at the rumor that Hon CM Shri @NitishKumar is contemplating going to Rajya Sabha! This is mischievous, and far from truth. Shri Kumar has people’s mandate to serve Bihar, and will continue to do so for the full term as Chief Minister. He is not going anywhere!” Jha tweeted.
In another tweet he said, “Shri Nitish Kumar was the face of the NDA in 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, and people voted this alliance to power. His unwavering commitment to serve people & ability to transform #Bihar are sacrosanct. I urge all to desist from such propaganda, which shall yield little.”

CM Nitish Kumar’s prospective election to the Upper House of Parliament sparked speculation when he stated yesterday that he would like to serve in the Rajya Sabha someday.
Nitish Kumar, who has served as Chief Minister for 16 years, was asked if he was thinking about running for parliament from Nalanda, where he has been touring the now-aboilished Lok Sabha seat of Barh, which he won five times.
“No chance,” the Chief Minister stated. “I won’t mind going to the Rajya Sabha, but for now, I have the obligations of Chief Minister,” he remarked when asked if he would like to be a member of the Rajya Sabha. “I’ve been Chief Minister for almost 16 years, so I know what I’m talking about.”
While CM Nitish Kumar stated that he had no plans to leave the party, JD(U) leaders believe that his comments created a lot of attention.
Following the chief minister’s remarks, numerous BJP legislators publicly demanded that he step up now and make way for a new chief minister in Bihar.
