Noida: In a recent case of threats against high-profile individuals, Mumbai Police arrested Gufran Khan, a 20-year-old man from Noida, for allegedly issuing death threats to Bollywood actor Salman Khan and Zeeshan Siddique, an MLA and son of former NCP leader Baba Siddique, who was shot dead on October 12. Gufran Khan was apprehended with the help of police intelligence and is now under Mumbai Police custody on transit remand.
The incident unfolded when Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Bandra received threatening messages on Friday, demanding a ransom and warning of consequences for Salman Khan and Siddique if the demands were unmet. A staff member at Siddique’s office reported the threat to the police, leading to an FIR and the swift arrest of Mohammed Tayyab, suspected to be involved in the case.
This is not the first time Salman Khan has been targeted; he previously received threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who allegedly fired shots outside his Bandra residence in April. Heightened security measures have since been put in place for the actor.
In a related incident, Mumbai Police recently arrested Shaikh Hussain Shaikh Mausin, a vegetable seller from Jamshedpur, for sending a ₹5 crore ransom threat to Mumbai traffic police via their WhatsApp helpline. Authorities suspect these events may be part of a coordinated series of intimidation tactics against prominent figures.
