Kyiv, March 8: Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine’s president claimed today that he is in Kyiv and is not worried or afraid. The announcement comes as Russian troops continue to shell multiple Ukrainian cities. Russian forces are closing in on Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, from the north and west.

“I stay in Kyiv. On Bankova Street. I’m not hiding. And I’m not afraid of anyone,” Zelensky said in a video on his Instagram.

“He would do as much as it takes to win this patriotic war,” he added.

“Today is the twelfth evening of our struggle. We are all on the ground. We are all working. I am in Kyiv, my team is with me,” Sitting at his desk,  President Zelenskyy said in his video.

Former comic Volodymyr Zelensky was elected President of Ukraine just in time to witness the most serious standoff between the Kremlin and Western powers since the end of the Cold War more than three decades ago.

The 44-year-old commander has reportedly escaped three assassination attempts since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began two weeks ago. According to the reports, the plots were thwarted after Ukrainian officials were made aware of them.

On Monday, Russia announced the development of evacuation routes for residents fleeing attack-plagued Ukrainian cities. Despite the fact that four of Moscow’s six proposed routes headed to Russia or its ally Belarus, Ukraine refused to transfer citizens to Russia.

Notably, President Zelensky has also accused the Russian army of attacking fleeing civilians.

“There was an agreement on humanitarian corridors. Did that work? Russian tanks worked in its place, Russian Grads (multiple rocket launchers), Russian mines,” he said.
