New Delhi, Nov 9:National Security Advisors of seven countries are reaching New Delhi today on the call of India regarding the situation in Afghanistan. Starting on November 10, the NSAs of Iran, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan will attend the meet. NSA Ajit Doval will also hold a bilateral meeting with the National Security Advisors of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
“The high-level dialogue will review the security situation in the region arising from recent developments in Afghanistan. It will deliberate upon measures to address the relevant security challenges and support the people of Afghanistan in promoting peace, security and stability,” said a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.
India had also invited China and Pakistan for this meeting to be held in the name of Delhi Regional Security Dialogue on Afghanistan. Pakistan had declined India’s invitation and called India a “spoiler” and not a “peacemaker” in Afghanistan , while China responded by saying that they are unable to attend the meet due to scheduling.
The meeting, which is considered very important regarding the situation in Afghanistan, is expected to discuss many issues including terrorism, drug smuggling, arms stockpiles and humanitarian aid. The representatives of India, Russia, Iran and 5 Central Asian countries attending the meeting will chalk out a strategy for mutual cooperation to deal with the menace of terrorism, radicalization and drugs after the Taliban rule in Afghanistan.
India said that India has always had friendly relations with the people of Afghanistan. In view of the recent situation there, international cooperation is necessary. In view of this, India has organized this program. The special thing is that none of the countries participating in the talks have recognized the Taliban government.
