Washington: Former President Barack Obama commended President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 White House race, highlighting it as a testament to Biden’s “love of country.” Obama also warned of the “uncharted waters” that lie ahead as the November 5 election approaches.

In a statement released on Sunday, Obama praised the 81-year-old Biden’s record and called him a “patriot of the highest order.” He acknowledged Biden’s right to seek reelection but respected his choice to step aside.

“We will be navigating uncharted waters in the days ahead. But I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges,” Obama said.

Obama highlighted Biden’s achievements on the international stage, noting his efforts to restore America’s standing in the world, revitalize NATO, and mobilize global opposition to Russian aggression in Ukraine.

“Biden had every right to run for reelection, but his decision to drop out of the race is a testament to his love of country,” Obama added.
