New Delhi, Jan 29: Naba Das, a senior BJD leader and the minister for health and family welfare in Odisha, was shot at by a police officer on Sunday in Brajrajnagar, Jharsuguda district, resulting in a bullet wound to his chest.
Das, a minister who has served the Jharsuguda assembly constituency since 2009, has been taken urgently to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Jharsuguda. His condition is described as critical. According to sources, he would likely be flown to Bhubaneswar for medical care.
“At a public grievance office opening, Naba Das was the chief guest. When he arrived, crowd gathered to welcome him. Suddenly, a gunshot was heard. We saw a police personnel running away after shooting from close range; Minister to be air lifted to Bhubaneswar,” says eye witness.
