Jamshedpur, Sept 25: A 24-year-old youth was killed on the spot and another youth was seriously injured as the bike they were riding on was hit by an unknown vehicle on Tata-Kandra road under Adityapur thana area around Sunday midnight.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be established whereas the injured has been identified as Surjan Singh.
The duo were found in a pool of blood on the Tata-Kandra road near RIT Mode with a Royal Enfield motorcycle lying there around midnight. A passerby identified as Amitesh Singh informed JRDCL ambulance and also the Adityapur police about the incident.
The ambulance functionary had carried both the injured to Tata Main Hospital — about 15 15-minute drive from the spot, but the doctors at the Emergency declared one of them as brought dead.
The surviving victim who was identified as Surjan Singh, a resident of Gopalganj in Bihar, has sustained grievous head injuries and has been referred to RIMS on Monday morning.
Adityapur Thana OC, Rajan Singh said this was a case of road mishap caused by an unknown vehicle.
“Initial investigation suggests the victims would work at a beer bar somewhere in Gamharia and were returning home from duty. The matter will be further clear once the body of the victim is identified, ” said the OC while talking to lagatar24.com.
The body has been shifted to MGM Medical College mortuary for postmortem.
