Opposition Protests Demand Hardeep Puri’s Resignation, Lok Sabha Adjourned Till March 9

New Delhi: The Lok Sabha witnessed major disruption on Friday as opposition MPs demanded the resignation of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, forcing the House to be adjourned first till noon and later till 11 am on March 9.

Tribute To Former MP Before Chaos

As proceedings began, presiding officer Sandhya Ray informed the House about the death of former MP Dr Bhagwan Das Rathore. Members observed silence to pay tribute before Question Hour started.

Opposition Raises Slogans During Question Hour

Soon after Question Hour began, MPs from Congress and other opposition parties began shouting slogans demanding Puri’s resignation. Several members moved close to the Speaker’s chair, ignoring repeated requests to return to their seats and allow the House to function.

House Adjourned After Uproar Continues

With the protests refusing to stop, the presiding officer adjourned the House till 12 pm. When the disruption continued, the Lok Sabha was eventually adjourned till March 9.

Epstein Files Trigger Fresh Political Storm

The protest comes after Hardeep Singh Puri’s name reportedly surfaced in connection with files related to US sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Rahul Gandhi has intensified attacks on the minister over the issue. Puri has stated that he had only a few formal meetings with Epstein and denied any link to criminal activity.

Protest At Parliament’s Makar Dwar

After the House was adjourned, opposition MPs staged a protest near Makar Dwar in the Parliament complex. They raised slogans of “Hardeep Puri resign” while holding a banner showing photos of Jeffrey Epstein and the minister.
