New Delhi, July 24: Outgoing Indian President Ram Nath Kovind will address the nation today, on the eve of demitting office today, according to the President’s Secretariat.

The speech will be broadcast starting at 19:00 on All India Radio’s (AIR) complete national network and telecast over all Doordarshan channels.

In his emotional goodbye speech to the nation earlier on Saturday, President Kovind thanked the people for giving him the chance to lead the nation as its leader. Along with other MPs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present. Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Prakash Birla was another dignitary present for the farewell speech.

Notably, Droupadi Murmu won the election to become the next President of India on Friday, handily defeating Yashwant Sinha of the opposition. She will take her oath on Monday in the Central Hall of Parliament.

With more than 64% of the legitimate ballots, Murmu (64), triumphed with a commanding lead. She will take over for Ram Nath Kovind as the nation’s fifteenth president.
