Daltonganj, Aug 30: It’s a bare 6 per cent sowing of paddy in Palamu, the lowest ever in the past 10 years.

As Palamu has 21 blocks and so this 6 per cent is the cumulative figure of the paddy sowing in Palamu while blocks like Bishrampur and Nawa Bazaar have just 1 per cent of paddy sowing.

The Sadar block which has Daltonganj has little over 4 percent of paddy sowing.

District Agricultural Officer Dinesh Manjhi has confirmed the overall 6 per cent sowing of paddy in the Palamu district.

The dismal percentage of sowing has exposed the claims of the facilities of irrigation in Palamu in this ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Kal’.

It is in 1.35 lakh hectares of land that crop is cultivated in Palamu where only 34,000 hectares of land has irrigation facility.

More than 1 lakh hectares of land have no irrigation facility and have to depend on rains and when it does not come, this kind of situation arises.
