Daltonganj, Nov 1: The Chhaterpur police in Palamu on Tuesday fished out two bodies from two wells at two different locations. The officer in charge of the Chhaterpur police station Shekhar Kumar said, “We fished out the body of a woman (35) from a well near Charai village.”
The water in the well from where her body was found is used for drinking. Villagers are now cleaning the well after this incident.
“There is no visible sign of any external injury on her body. The deceased is said to be some mentally deranged,” Kumar added.
“The deceased woman used to speak Bengali more than Hindi. It appears she was a native of some other place. Her identity has not yet been identified,” said the police officer.
In another case, police and locals retrieved the body of a 45-year-old man from a well near Dholkee village. This well is used for irrigation and hence there is no such reservation as compared to the earlier well.
The deceased has been identified as Laxman Yadav. He was said to be a drug addict. Police officer Shekhar Kumar said Yadav just fell into the well as it is situated on the village road and it has no parapet around it.
There appears to be no foul play in both cases, added the police officer. The two bodies have been sent to the MMCH Daltonganj for post-mortem. Chhaterpur police have lodged two UD (unnatural death) cases in this regard.
