Palamu: Ten displaced Dalit families to get Rs 25,000 under SC/ST Act

Daltonganj, Sept 3: Ten Dalit families of Murumatu village under Pandu police station in Palamu would get Rs 25,000 each digitally. Efforts are being made for creating their individual bank account, according to official sources.

A decision to this effect has been taken in a meeting of the district administration chaired by Palamu DC Anjaneyulu Dodde which was attended by DDC Megha Bhardwaj, civil society activist Sarwan Gupta, sub divisional police officer Surjit Kumar  government pleader Mahesh Prasad, district welfare officer S Sahu etc participated on Friday.

The 2016 amendment to the 1989 SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act has a provision of relief in terms of money worth Rs 25,000 to the victim of the SC or ST community which starts after the lodging of an FIR under the section(s) of the Act.

The FIR in the Murumatu incident was lodged on August 30 and on September 2, the Palamu administration sanctioned Rs 25,000 each to the 10 affected families of the Murumatu village.
