Daltonganj, Jan 21: BJP MLA of Panki, Kushwaha Shashibhushan Mehta, is quite ‘apprehensive’ of his security.

Speaking to Lagatar English today, Mehta who is a doctorate too said his apprehension about his security (he used the word ‘aashankit’) is because of his less fortified security cover as the constituency Panki that he represents has been a highly sensitive one from the point of view of the extremism.

He said the geography and topography of the Panki assembly constituency is tough and he has to keep late hours in the evening for his varied works of his people.

He has two bodyguards and a couple of house guards. He wants it to be upgraded with a 2:8 contingent of cops as his house guards.

The MLA has a preference for JAP 8 jawans.

The BJP MLA said he made a written request for the fortification of his security to the Chief Minister Hemant Soren and a copy of which was sent to the DGP way back mid-March 2021 but nothing tangible has been done so far.

Mehta said that he hopes the state government will take note of his security concern.

Sub Divisional police officer Lesliganj Alok Kumar Tuti said he only knows that the MLA has sent his written request to the CM.

Asked if the CM secretariat has sent SP Palamu or for that matter Panki police any intimation in this regard, Tuti said it is not so far in his knowledge.

Officer in charge of the Panki police station Amit Soni said quite long ago, he had given us a phone number which on our tracing was found to be of a local youth.

Asked if the traced youth was suspected to be naxal, the police officer said the MLA was posted with all the details.
