Ramgarh, Oct 17: A community development initiative by PVUN Ltd was undertaken to create awareness and build a foundation for the betterment of society on Monday. The PVUN commemorated Global Handwashing Day with an interactive session at the New Primary School, Upartola Sankul.

Officials believe that maintaining personal hygiene grew among people during the pandemic when washing hands with soap or using sanitisers became a persistent practice. Meanwhile, Global Hand Washing Day is celebrated on October 15 to make people aware of the importance of washing one’s hands.

The engaging storytelling tool was used to explain the importance of handwashing, utilising the case of Dr Ignaz Semmelweis – the scientist who discovered handwashing. It was followed by a demonstration of methods of hand washing.

The students also participated in two engaging quizzes, and the top performers were rewarded. During the session, hand-washing kits were distributed to all the students to promote behavioural change. The school faculty and PRI representatives also participated in the programme.
