Beijing, March 21:A China Eastern passenger plane carrying 133 passengers crashed in southwest China, igniting a mountain fire, with no reports of deaths.
According to CCTV, citing the provincial emergency management office, the Boeing 737 airliner crashed in the remote countryside near Wuzhou city, Guangxi region, and triggered a mountain fire.
Rescue services were called to the location, according to the report.
According to local media, China Eastern flight MU5735 did not arrive at its scheduled destination in Guangzhou after taking off from Kunming shortly after 1:00 p.m. (0500 GMT) on Monday.
A Boeing 737 Max flown by Lion Air Flight 610 crashed in 2018, and another 737 Max operated by Ethiopian Airlines crashed in 2019. Following the two incidents, all Boeing 737 MAX passenger planes were grounded globally.
