Hisar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp attack on the Congress party during an event in Hisar on the birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar, accusing the party of humiliating the architect of the Constitution during his lifetime and attempting to erase his legacy after his death.
Congress Betrayed Ambedkar’s Vision: PM Modi
“Congress humiliated Baba Saheb Ambedkar while he was alive, ensured his electoral defeats, and conspired to keep him out of the system,” PM Modi said. He further alleged that after Ambedkar’s death, Congress tried to eliminate his ideas and weaken his vision of social justice. “Congress has become the predator of the Constitution,” he remarked.
Ambedkar’s Dream Vs Congress’ Vote Bank Politics
The Prime Minister accused Congress of distorting Ambedkar’s vision for political gains. He stated that while Ambedkar envisioned dignity and equality for the poor and deprived, Congress reduced Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) to second-class citizens.
BJP’s Development Initiatives Cited As True Social Justice
Highlighting the BJP government’s schemes, PM Modi said that under the Har Ghar Jal Yojana, 80% of rural households now have tap water connections compared to only 16% during Congress rule. He also mentioned the Swachh Bharat Mission, noting that over 11 crore toilets have been built, providing dignity to the marginalised communities.
Modi also credited the Jan Dhan Yojana for providing financial inclusion to the underprivileged. “Earlier banks were a dream for SC, ST, and OBC citizens. Today they proudly hold Jan Dhan cards,” he said.
Uniform Civil Code And Waqf Laws Targeted
PM Modi criticised Congress for opposing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), recently introduced in BJP-ruled Uttarakhand, stating that Congress opposes constitutional values in practice while carrying the Constitution in their pockets.
He further attacked the 2013 amendments to the Waqf Act under Congress rule, calling it a politically motivated appeasement strategy. He claimed the new law introduced by BJP will prevent exploitation, secure tribal lands, and protect the rights of Pasmanda Muslims.
Challenge To Congress On Minority Representation
Modi challenged Congress to prove its sincerity towards the Muslim community by appointing a Muslim as party president and giving 50% of election tickets to the community. He accused Congress of treating minorities merely as vote banks.
BJP’s Panchteerth Initiative Honours Ambedkar
PM Modi highlighted the BJP’s efforts in developing five key places linked to Ambedkar’s life into pilgrimage sites — called ‘Panchteerths.’ These include his birthplace Mhow, Shiksha Bhoomi in London, Deeksha Bhoomi in Nagpur, Mahaparinirvan Sthal in Delhi, and the Indu Mill memorial in Mumbai.
Praise For Haryana’s Merit-Based Recruitment
Praising Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, PM Modi said that the state had ended corruption in job appointments. He claimed that Congress tried to block 25,000 government job appointments, but the new state government reversed this decision and issued thousands of appointment letters.
Congress Mocked Soldiers: OROP Scheme Highlighted
Targeting Congress over the armed forces, PM Modi said that Congress mocked the ‘One Rank, One Pension’ (OROP) scheme and allocated a mere Rs 500 crore. In contrast, under the BJP government, Rs 13,500 crore has been disbursed to ex-servicemen from Haryana alone.
PM Modi concluded by saying, “Congress has no real connection with Dalits, the backward classes, our mothers and daughters, or even our brave soldiers. It is only connected to the pursuit of power.”
