New Delhi, Oct 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed his condolences on the passing of Mulayam Singh Yadav, the founder of the Samajwadi Party, and noted how well regarded he was as a modest, grounded, and sensitive leader. Yadav, who was 82, passed away in Gurugram’s Medanta hospital.
“Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji was a remarkable personality. He was widely admired as a humble and grounded leader who was sensitive to people’s problems,” said Modi.

According to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state of Uttar Pradesh will mark three days of national mourning in honour of Samajwadi party stalwart Mulayam Singh Yadav. According to a spokeswoman, the BJP leader also called Mulayam Singh’s brother Ram Gopal Yadav and son Akhilesh Yadav, who serves as the assembly’s leader of opposition, to offer his condolences.
“Death of former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav is extremely sad,” said Yogi Adityanath.
“He was a pillar of socialism. His death is the end of an era of struggle. I wish peace to the departed soul and my condolences to the bereaved family and supporters,” he added.

He established a three-day period of mourning and said full state honours would be accorded to the final ceremonies. Three-time former chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav passed away at the age of 82 earlier today. He was also the nation’s Defense Minister and was affectionately known by Samajwadi Party members as “Netaji” (‘Dear Leader’).
