Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at a significant event in Mumbai on Saturday, announced that 8 crore new jobs have been created in India over the past 3-4 years, according to a recent RBI report. Modi used this data to criticize the opposition, accusing them of spreading false narratives and being enemies of development, investment, and employment.
“These figures have silenced those who spread false narratives. These individuals oppose investment, infrastructure, and the country’s development and are now being exposed. The citizens of the country are rejecting their conspiracies,” the Prime Minister said.
During the event, which saw the foundation stone laid for development projects worth more than Rs 29,400 crore, Modi also addressed the opposition’s previous allegations about the Atal Setu bridge developing cracks. He emphasized the improved quality of life in Mumbai due to enhanced connectivity and infrastructure.
“Our motive is to make the quality of life best in Mumbai; therefore, connectivity around Mumbai is being improved. In Mumbai, the coastal road and Atal Setu have been completed, and you may remember that misinformation was spread about the Atal Setu. Every effort was made to stall it, but everyone is benefitting from it,” he stated.
The Prime Minister highlighted that approximately 20,000 vehicles use the Atal Setu daily, saving an estimated Rs 20,000-25,000 lakh in fuel costs per day. The event was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.
Prime Minister Modi also outlined his vision for Mumbai, aspiring to transform the city into a global fintech capital. He emphasized Maharashtra’s critical role in making India self-reliant due to its strong industrial, agricultural, and financial sectors.
“Maharashtra is a state that will play a crucial role in making India ‘viksit’ (self-reliant). Maharashtra has the power of industry, agriculture, and finance sector, and this has helped Mumbai become the financial hub of India. Now, my aim is to make Maharashtra the world’s big financial powerhouse,” Modi declared.
He further asserted the stability and durability provided by the NDA government, promising to work at thrice the speed following his third term in office.
