New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to Dr. BR Ambedkar on the occasion of the 69th Mahaparinirvan Diwas at the Parliament House Lawns in Delhi on Friday. The day marks the death anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, fondly called Babasaheb, who is celebrated as the architect of the Indian Constitution and a champion of social justice.
PM Modi described Ambedkar as a “beacon of social justice” and reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the leader’s vision of equality and dignity for all.
“On Mahaparinirvan Diwas, we bow to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of our Constitution and a beacon of social justice. Dr. Ambedkar’s tireless fight for equality and human dignity continues to inspire generations. Today, as we remember his contributions, we also reiterate our commitment to fulfilling his vision. Also sharing a picture from my visit to Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai earlier this year. Jai Bhim!” PM Modi wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Legacy of Dr. BR Ambedkar
Babasaheb Ambedkar is revered for his relentless efforts to combat social discrimination against Dalits and his advocacy for women’s and workers’ rights. His life’s mission was to foster equality and eliminate caste-based oppression.
The term Mahaparinirvan in Buddhist tradition denotes “nirvana after death,” signifying ultimate liberation from the cycle of birth and death (samsara). This sacred observance is akin to Lord Buddha’s passing, symbolizing freedom from karma and worldly suffering.
Dr. Ambedkar’s enduring legacy continues to inspire the nation to strive for a society based on justice, equality, and harmony.
