Jammu: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during an election rally in Jammu on Saturday, reflected on the 2016 Uri surgical strike, stating that the BJP government’s firm response to terrorism sent a strong message to enemies. Modi emphasized that the government’s retaliation made adversaries “come to their senses” after they attacked Indian soldiers in Kashmir.

Modi Recalls 2016 Uri Surgical Strike

Marking the anniversary of the 2016 Uri surgical strike, PM Modi said, “Today is 28th September. In 2016, on this night, a surgical strike was carried out. India showed the world, ‘This is the new India, it enters homes and strikes back’. Terror masters know that if anything happens, Modi will find them even in hell.”

The surgical strike, launched by the Indian army on the night of September 28, 2016, targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The strikes were in response to the attack on an army base in Uri, which took place earlier that month and led to the deaths of 19 Indian soldiers.

Modi Targets Congress, NC, and PDP

Addressing the crowd in Jammu, Modi also took aim at the opposition parties, including the Congress, National Conference (NC), and People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He remarked that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are “tired” of the three-family political rule, which has caused corruption and discrimination in jobs.

Modi said, “The people here want peace and a better future for their children, not the old system of terrorism, separatism, and bloodshed. The people want a BJP government that will bring about change.”

Confident of BJP’s Majority in Jammu and Kashmir Elections

Modi further expressed confidence in the BJP’s victory in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir elections. He mentioned the massive voter turnout in favor of the BJP in the first two phases of polling, and predicted a full majority for the BJP.

“There has been huge voting in favor of BJP in both phases. The first government of the BJP will be formed with a full majority here,” Modi said.

The first phase of elections in Jammu and Kashmir was held on September 18, while the second phase occurred on September 25. The results are scheduled to be declared on October 8.
