New Delhi, Feb 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a virtual summit today with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan.
Both the leaders are expected to talk about bilateral cooperation as well as international topics of mutual concern. They are expected to lay out their visions for the historic and friendly relations between the two countries, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), at a time when India is commemorating its 75th anniversary of independence as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and the UAE is commemorating its 50th anniversary of foundation.
In recent years, bilateral relations between India and the UAE have improved in all areas. Both parties have begun on a thorough strategic relationship in recent years.
In 2015, 2018, and 2019, Prime Minister Modi visited the UAE, while the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi visited India in 2016 and 2017. Ministerial visits between the two countries have resumed, with three trips by the UAE’s External Affairs Minister and one by the UAE’s Commerce and Industry Minister scheduled for 2021.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, both sides worked closely together in vital areas of healthcare and food security. Trade, business, and energy links between the two countries have remained strong.
