Ranchi, Dec 5: A girl’s body was recovered on the railway track near Ara gate under Tatisilwai police station on Monday afternoon. She was identified as Pallavi Kumari (17), a management student of BIT Mesra.
The development took place after family members of the victim identified the body when it was brought for autopsy at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), where the victim’s parents Vijay Ram and Madhu Devi, are fourth-grade staff.
Police have registered a murder case in this connection and have started looking for a suspect named Piyush Tiwari.
SP (rural) Naushad Alam confirmed the development and said, “Initially, it was taken as a case of an accident but after the body was identified and family members suspected the hands of a boy close to the girl. A murder case was registered and we are searching for the accused.”
The residence of the victim is on Road No 9 of the Kusum Vihar locality. This morning, the residents assembled at RIMS postmortem house and mounted pressure on police to arrest the suspect, whose last location was found at Varanasi.
