Ranchi, Sept 5: Police in Khunti solved triple murder case reported at Arki police station on September 2 after police recovered three bodies identified as Gram Pradhan Bayar Singh Munda (55) and this two sons, Singa Munda (30) and Mani Haribina (26).

As many as five persons were arrested in this connection. Those arrested are Sigrai Munda (19), Chambra Munda (22), Birsa Haribina, Vikrai Haribina and Jabor Chutia. All are in the age group of 19 to 22.

Superintendent of police of the district Aman Kumar informed this in a press conference saying sticks used to commit the crime were recovered in this connection.

SP Kumar said that so far two main reasons have come to the fore. The first is rude behaviour of Munda with villagers and the second is suspicion of the bad character of Munda.

“Villagers held a meeting before they committed a crime. During the meeting it was discussed that due to Munda’s old connection with Maoist Kundan Pahan he often used to behave rudely with the village. Apart from this, information about his illicit relationship with a woman outside the village surfaced,” SP Kumar said.

Kumar said one of the accused Singrai Munda is nephew of the deceased Bayar Singh Munda. “Singrai supported the villagers as latter had promised the position of Gram Pradhan,” SP Kumar said.
