Daltonganj, Aug 28: The booster dose vaccination against Covid seems to have become grounded in Palamu. Even the 75 day free booster dose vaccination campaign could not be made a successful one.
Notably, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India had launched a free precautionary dose vaccination campaign for 75 days from June 15 for all 18+ eligible persons, which means those who had already been administered the second dose vaccination.
Sources have said even in the last 70 days, which began on June 15, Palamu could finish with just 24,792 precautionary dose vaccines. Palamu has 9,53,608 persons who have been registered the second dose of vaccine. These were the people eligible for booster shots.
However, till last day the number of the precautionary dose given so far is 35,009 including the 24,792 mentioned earlier.
Palamu district epidemiologist Dr Anup Kumar Singh said, “There is now a general aversion to the Covid vaccination as the public believe that Covid is gone and so there is no need to get a vaccine.”
Dr Singh said that this is unfortunate that people are getting unmindful of the dangers of the Coronavirus which is around and may strike at any moment.
