Jamshedpur, Dec 24 : Several areas serviced by Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited  (JBVNL), including Mango, Jugsalai and Chhota Govindpur, faced a power crisis on Friday due to short supply from the state load despatch centre.

Places like Ghatshila and adjoining Seraikela also confronted power problems.

Residents of Mango experienced an erratic power supply from morning as the power substation at Kuar Basti and Dimna were getting restricted supply.

There was a prolonged power cut from 8am to 11am in places like Zakirnagar, Sankosai, Dimna Road and the area around Payal Cinema and Post Office Road.

Both the Golmuri and Gamharia power grid substations were getting inadequate power from state load despatch and this is causing a power crisis, said a senior official of JBVNL’s Singhbhum electricity supply area.

The Golmuri powergrid station was getting a meagre 30MW against its requirement of 45MW, while the Gamharia grid substation, which supplies power to Adityapur industrial area and other residential areas, was getting around 80MW against its requirement of 120MW.

Residents of Ghorabandha and Chhota Govindpur witnessed erratic  power cut since morning. Power also played hide-and-seek in Jugsalai, Adityapur , Sundernagar and Karandih too.

A JBVNL official said there were no local faults. ” The impending power crisis is due to short supply from Ranchi. Efforts are being made to resolve the issue,” he added.
