Chandigarh, March 28: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced on Monday that his government has decided to begin delivering rations to residents’ homes.
Government personnel will phone Punjab citizens to ask for their chosen time slot, he said. As a result, rations will be delivered door to door at the people’s convenience.
“AAP has decided to start doorstep delivery of ration for the people of Punjab. Our officers will call you to ask the timings of the same & will deliver at that time. It is an optional scheme,” said Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi Chief Minister and an AAP leader, had previously attempted to adopt a similar plan in the city. It was halted, however, due to disagreements between the Centre and the Delhi administration.
Notably, following the AAP’s sweeping victory in the state’s recent Assembly election, Bhagwant Mann was sworn in as Chief Minister of Punjab earlier this month.
